Sisters in ministry, Danyelle Saunders and Vernice Callis, are owner and instructors of Faith In Motion Ministries, Inc. Although the daughters of Emmanuel Hugh and Alice Louise Lassiter, have been dancing since the age of three, neither of them had a clue of how God would use the skill and passion developed for the good of His Kingdom.
“For in Him we live and move and have our being.” Acts 17:28
In the spring of 2006 God’s promise to the sister duo was fulfilled in the form of an instructional studio for dancers aspiring to devote their bodies to spreading the good news of Christ through the gift of dance. The sisters partnered in ministry and Faith In Motion Praise Dance Studio (FIM) was established. They would embody the vision of “Bridging the Gap between Performance and Ministry”.
To date, they celebrate over thirteen years of liturgical movement instruction and thank God for all who have sown seeds into the ministry as well as those who have benefited and been edified through its works. Opening the instructional studio with five students, through the years FIM has grown significantly. They’ve presented nine recitals, hosted free community seminars on various health and fitness topics, conducted workshops along the east coast, formed a traveling Outreach Team, partnered with a local private academy providing liturgical instruction to school-age youth, and established REECH (Restoring and Empowering by Elevating Christ Hype), a community fine arts team who’ve presented the original dramatization “A Silent Scream” in the Hampton Roads Community.
FIM looks forward to many more years of great accomplishments that will overflow into the homes, communities, and churches throughout all nations. Bridging the gap between performance and ministry starts with the individual. The sister instructors are passionately committed to leading as they have been lead to continue following God’s great commission so that His Word saturates the world.
Danyelle and Vernice appreciate the opportunity to give back to God’s people through their gifts. They pray that all aspiring to minister through dance accept the challenge of continuous enhancement and improvement of their education and understanding of the purpose of liturgical dance movement.
“ How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
- Isaiah 52:7
